Gloves and Quilt

South Carolina is beautiful and well, if I could find a job here, everything would be fabulous. I will keep trying and stay motified but in the meantime, it gives me the opportunity to try some new things. I recently went a took a knitting class to learn how to make fingerless gloves. I finally finished them after struggling a bit with the thumbs. So, here they are for you all to see. My first official finished knitted project. YAY!!!!

I did these with a number 5, 9" round needles and double ended needles for the thumbs. I have knitted before but have only actually made dishcloths so doing some lacework, round needles and double ended needles was all new to me. My mom found a pattern that she feels will be easier so I can't wait to get it so I can try it.
My mom is so extremely talented and I wanted to share with you a cute lap blanket that she made for me for Christmas. I use it almost every day and just had to share.

This quilt was machine quilted and tied in the middle of each square. Totally love it, thank momma!!!!!

Savannah, GA

Howdy folks,
So another little update. Before the girls went back to Utah, we spent the day in Savannah. Well actually what happened was that I was able to get their return flights out of the Savannah airport for about $100 cheaper for each ticket, so with a savings of $200 and the fact that we wanted to see Savannah, we decided to make the trip. Its only about an hr and 45 minutes from our house so it really isn't that big of a deal. It was fabulous. Very small town feel and so much history. My only complaint was that it was January 1st and a lot of stuff was closed. We had been told about this little hole in the wall bbq place that was supposed to be the best bbq in the south, it was closed. Many of the stores were closed, the visitors center was closed and well, I guess we will just have to go back.
Anyway, we were still able to see a lot of stuff and here are the pictures to share.

 This picture was taken right in downtown Savannah. There is a park that has a headstone in it.

This was the sidewalk as we were headed to the cemetary. It was so cool how the trees were lined up and the mossy stuff was hanging down and blowing.

 These old police cars were parked in front of the police station. They have been restored obviously but really cool to see.

 This was the entry to the cemetary. This cemetary primarily has people lost during the revolutionary war from 1775 to 1783. It was freaky. I learned from reading a South Carolina history book that the war, although technically ended in 1783, fighting continued in Charleston for almost two more years. The book said that in those two years, more soldier died than actually died during the entire war. They didn't count any of the loyalists or anyone who died from sickness to the numbers would actually be much higher.

This is a shot of the cemetary. This was only one section though, it was actually much bigger than this picture makes it look. Many of the headstones cannot be read, but the ones that can are amazingly poetic. Kylee even commented on how the wording was so different that what we would use today.

This was a current cop car/taxi cab that was parked in fron of the police station. It is used to discourage drinking and driving. The front, police portion says "this ride costs $1800" the back end says "this one costs $20". Thought it was pretty cool.

 The next stop was Tybee beach, this was the lighthouse there. It was so beautiful. So far, this is my favorite area and beach. I really want to head back here for a mini vacation. Lots of rentals right on the beach.

 Down the beach from where we were. It was cold and there was hardly anyone on the beach. I bet its crowded in the summer.

 The sand was so pretty. I was hoping you could tell from this picture how white and soft and pretty. I recommend this beach to anyone looking for a place to vacation.

Anyway, I am sure hoping that once it warms up here that we will have visitors, lots of visitors. Well and I hope I can get a job soon. I am going a little stir crazy. I did get offered a job to teach little kids how to draw. I may take the lady up on that more for the fun of it than the money. Maybe it would at least pay for my crafting expenses. LOL.

Catching up

Hello all,
Okay so I have totally neglected the blog. I will try to catch up on everything. The girls are now back in Utah and I am desperately trying to find a job. That is pretty much it. Over the holidays though we had quite a busy time. Here are some of the pics.

We made a quick stop at Graceland in Memphis on our way to SC. We didn't do the tour because we had Harley with us. My mom is totally in love with Elvis and by judging the pic above, so is Kylee. LOL

I decided that anyone who comes and visits us will get their picture taken in front of the fountain. I think I will start a scrapbook.

 Before you can go on the carriage ride we had to wait for a ping pong ball, like the lottery draw. It tells the carriage driver which tour they are allowed to take you on.

This is a picture of the ceiling of one of the houses in Charleston. They paint the ceiling's this blue color because it is believed the evil spirits will be kept away. It also apparently keeps birds and other things from making homes there because they think it is the sky.

I just love the architecture in Charleston. There is a school that is ran out of the old city jail. I would love to go learn all about how to restore historical homes but in the mean time, we decided to go on a haunted tour later that night.

One of the jail cells. They kept a large number of people in the jail. I believe they said the jail was built to house 150 and at one time had over 600. The average life span once sentenced was two months.

They told us that there are headstones at this cemetary that are the oldest in the US. Freaky!

We were waiting outside the jail for our tour and Katie captured this spirit shooting through our picture. It was however later determined that it was Katie's hair. LOL.

Okay, there is more but I need to get to work on my resume so I will post more tomorrow. Scott has to work all weekend. I am just glad someone is working. I did go take a knitting class in Summerville. I love that town and will be posting pictures soon. I think that is where I would like us to settle eventually. I am just totally in love with the town. Anyway... more later.

Well we made it to SC and celebrated Christmas together as a family. It was the best Christmas ever. I miss everyone else but was so empty with my pookie bear. I feel complete again. After breakfast and presents, I got the turkey in the oven and we went to Colonial Dorchester Park and explored. Its only about a minute from the house. This is a picture I took down by the river. I can't stop laughing everytime I look at Harley. I swear he has a big smile just for this picture.

It was another great day with my family. I am so happy to have us all together and can't wait for the next adventure. Tomorrow we are going bowling with a friend of Scott's and her kids. Love and miss you all.

Albuquerque NM

We finally made it to Albuquerque. The weather was horrible today. Pretty much white knuckled it most of the way. It was pretty nice through Moab, about 50 degrees but cloudy. Shortly after that it started raining and didn't stop until just before we got here.

Harley is doing well. He is a little stressed and of course is barking at everyone but you can tell he is just really unsure about what is going on. He was however quite enjoying sticking his head out the window.

We didn't get to take many pictures today mostly because of the horrible weather. This one was taken in Moab.

I really wanted to get one of me leaving Utah but when we finally saw a sign it said welcome to New Mexico. Guess we missed the Utah and Colorado signs. LOL. Everything is fabulous though. Love you all.

HOLY COW!!!!

So honey, just wanted to let you know that I had to get rid of so many clothes that I am going to need to buy lots of new stuff once I get there.

Last day of work, check, car loaded, check! What else to do? Hopefully I will be able to sleep tonight however, I am already feeling the "what did I forget". The girls will be coming back in a couple of weeks so I guess if there is anything that I really need, I can have them mail it to me. I just can't wait to be with my Scotty, pookie bear again. Nothing else really matters, right?

I have been asked numerous times if I will miss Utah. I have to say that yes, I will miss it but honestly I am so excited for a new adventure. Maybe its a mid-life crisis or something. My daughters are on their own, Quinton is a teenager and thinks that he is on his own (we strive to keep him believing this, however, not true), and well after finishing my degree years ago, I have wanted to use it. I am sad to give up a great paying job with security, sad that I probably won't see snow for a very long time (although right now this is questionable), but mostly sad to leave my family and friends that I love so very much.

Mom, plan on coming out soon, spend a month or two with us! you will love it out there. I love you tons!

Anyway, I love you all and will miss you all. We are planning on being in Ladson by Thursday. If we hit some weather, maybe Friday. Pray for us please! Off we go.....

Its official...

Just two more days of work and I am on my way. I guess I should say "we" are on our way. Kylee, Katie, Harley and myself will be making our way to South Carolina via automobile. I am looking forward to being with the greatest man in the world again. My heart has been empty without him. Scott is my best friend and the greatest person in my life! That should be a huge compliment to him because I have some really amazing people in my life.

Anyway, there have been many of you that have asked me to keep in touch so I thought I would start a blog that I could update and then whenever you feel like you want to see what I am doing, you can come here and check it out. That way I won't ever forget to stay in touch with everyone. Next Tuesday you will start seeing posts about our trip. A constant update about where we are at and what is going on. Hopefully some pictures too!
I love you all and will miss my family and friends in Utah but am looking forward to all the new friends that I will make in South Carolina. Plus the weather is an added bonus!
